My first question is has anyone put this an a scanner to look at data. You have several sensors that could cause this. When cold, looking at data will tell them exactly what is wrong or not wrong . If it all looks good we would scope the ignition system to see if the ignition system is weak. If we thought it needed a tun-up we would pull a couple spark plugs and look under the distributor cap. If the van has 70,000 or so we would recommend distributor cap, rotor plug wires. Old cap and rotor can cause hard starts.
\015\012If the tunup looked good we would do an emissions test to see it your burning efficiently.
\015\012The colder it is the more fuel you need for cold starts. Its possible the injectors are restricted and a cleaning service could help or running a good fuel injector cleaner for a few tanks of gas could help.
\015\012If we questioned a compression issue we would check compression..
\015\012As you can see some of the parts you replaced were not even something I listed because they cant cause this issue. So based on what I suggested we would do,, its in your hands now knowing what to look for.
\015\012One last thing tho. Did it do better after you replaced the fuel pump ??
\015\012Its possible that the connector harness for the fuel pump is faulty. If this is the case a new fuel pump will start to fail soon after installing.
\015\012If you question this statement do a search on repeated fuel pump failures and you'l see. Hopefully this isnt the problem but just thought I'd thow it out.
Hi Gee,\015\012
\015\012Instead of working on the fuel system without testing , the best thing to do would have been testing the car first.\015\012
\015\012Do a code scan and find out if there are codes stored in the PCM module (car computer). If any code is stored, it may already address the problem and tell you what is wrong with your car.\015\012
\015\012If you are located in US the scan code is done free of charge at the nearest Autozone.\015\012
\015\012After scanning and getting the codes from Autozone, write them on paper, the mechanics in there won't give you any printout (it is a free service).\015\012
\015\012Just as general comment I can tell you that common faults that would cause your car not starting at cold are MAF sensor, AIT sensor, fuel circulation problem (you excluded this), air intake problem, distribution problem, vacuum system and EGR valve problem.\015\012
\015\012Ensure that the spark plugs, the air filter are OK, then go to Autozone and get the codes, so that we can start from there.
