Having problems with your 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid ?

2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid Stop safely now message

\015 I have just over 50,000 trouble free miles on my Fusion hybrid. But last week on the way home going about 60 mph suddenly the Stop safely now alarm went off for the first time. It hasn't happened since. I noticed a slight kicking or a bucking the car made in the instant just before this alarm went off, which reminded me of a car starting to miss or like it does when it's getting ready to run out of gas. In hindsite it could have been the system kicking off the gas engine and the jerking of that disengagement, or the engine was starting to have problems.\012At any rate the gas engine cut off and left me with just the electric motor, which allowed me to continue, but once momentum decelerated to 25 mph that's all the speed I could go. The engine temp was normal, the gas gauge was at 3/4 of a tank, and the battery charge meter was right in the normal, upper middle range. Fortunately I was less than 2 miles from home when it occured. Had to stop once at a light but it let me accelerate back up to 25 mpg (no faster no matter how far I pressed the gas pedal) until I got in the driveway. The next day the car started fine and it's like nothing happened. I talked to the certified hybrid mechanic at ford. He said there are a number of things that can cause it, one is if the battery got too hot. I checked the codes using the sequence provided by the factory manual, but nothing was stored in the system. The ford guy said sometimes they retain the codes and sometimes not. I also had the engine service light come on a couple of times a few miles back but found no codes stored then. I attributed it to a bad batch of gas.\012 I asked the ford guy about the engine air filter and he said they have been changing those in some of the hybrids as early as 30,000 miles even though the book says they last forever, so he suggested I try replacing it. The dealership didin't have one in stock and she checked the records and said they have never placed an order for one. I fell on the floor when she told me it costs $470 clams! Should I get a filter? I'm thinking of finding a regular Fusion in the junk yard and converting my hybrid to a conventional cheaper filter. Do you have any suggestions on the filter, and or the stop safely warning?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 19-03-2018
