Having problems with your 2006 Kia Rio ?
Ignition is completely locked up
\015 My key will simply not turn in the ignition. It will jiggle a little on either side. When I first started trying to get my car to start, the wheels were turned to the right and I was on a very slight slope in a parking lot. So I yanked my steering wheel to the straight position, made sure my car was all the way in "park," jiggled the steering wheel back and forth, and continued trying to start my car. I went on in this fashion for a total of 3 hours. Finally I got it towed to a mechanic, and they quoted me a bill of $350 for parts and labor. They said I needed a new ignition switch because my key is so worn down from the strenuous effort I put into turning the key. However, my key still opens the doors and trunk. And honestly, to me, the key doesn't look that stripped. \012\012I need my car fixed in the cheapest, most efficient way possible. I had it towed back to my house because I either want to a.) order the ignition switch and install it myself (super easy fix) or b.) call the local locksmith and get a key copied from the ignition. \012\012They both will cost about the same amount of money, but it would be a lot faster for the locksmith to come out and make a key on site. But I don't know if that would be the most reliable method...\012\012Does anyone have any advice?? Thank your for reading my lengthy description...I just wanted to give as much info as possible.\015
