Having problems with your 2004 Ford F150 ?

How to change 4wd hub actuator

\015 I have an 05 f150 and I have no 4wd, only a grinding noise coming from the right front side while in 4wd. Its fully disengaging and I have already changed the solenoid on the firewall. I was just curious how dificult this was to change or if I need any special tools\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 19-03-2018

Answers :

These units should always be replaced in pairs. They have done the same amount of time on the axle, therefore it only makes sense to change them both. There should be 6 allen head or torx head screws retaining the cap. Once the cap is removed there will be a large c clip inside, this may require special pliers to remove. Once this is done there are a series of collars and bushings that "must be kept in order as to simplify reinstallation. Don,t forget to grease everthing well upon reinstallation. Thanks, Dana
