Having problems with your 2003 Suzuki Aerio ?

Smell under the hood...like a burning smell..temperature light

\015 Comes on, the battery light comes on, the steering wheel is hard to turn. There is power steering fluid in the car. I added anti freeze to the car which was low. I recently had the top hose on the radiator changed at the shop. Once I added the water to the radiator the temperature light went out, but the battery light remained on.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 19-03-2018

You are having a problem with the alternator or the serpintine belt that powers the alternator, a/c, water pump and power steering. The belt is either not properly tensioned or the alternator, or water pump is siezing up which would explain the loss of water and the battery light. Likely the water pump might be bad since you are losing some water.
\015\012The belt powers all of the systems you mentioned so I would find the belt on the passenger side of the car and go from there. It is pretty well in there and hard as hell to reach so you will likely need to take it to someone with a lift and some good tools. The good news is that this is drivable so you should be able to get it addressed before the belt completly snaps from whatever system is being broken and melts onto something making the problem even worse.
The battery may have been disconnected at the shop where you had your hose replaced. If the battery is fully charged the light may need 25 to 50 miles to reset. You may need an xtra charge since some newer alternators only maintain the charge you have in the battery. Hope this helps.
