Having problems with your 2002 Ford Explorer ?
Will not start sometimes, has blown fuel pump fuse 2 times
\015 My car will not start sometimes, possibly in damp or cold weather. The Ford dealer cannot find the problem, and they've had it in several times. I bring it home, and it won't start again. It has blown the 15 amp fuel pump fuse twice, but replacing the fuse only made it start one time, and tapping on the fuel tank seemed to work one time, but not every time. The Ford service department cannot get an error code on the fuel pump, so I hesitate to make this costly repair/ rplacing the fuel pump if that is not the problem. Any other suggestions?\015
A couple of things come to mind, but the first thing is. that i would check to see if you have a proper ground. i know as dumb as that sounds, but really ford is notorious for their screwie grounds.and i dont mean for you to check to see if it is grounded to the frame(unless you have a lot of rust) but in your wiring harness that goes to the fuel pump.here is a little example..do you know that a lot of gas station fires are the result of people filling they're gas cans up while its sitting in the bed of they're pick-up with a bed liner.. and why is that? here's a simple answer. static electicity build up.because without the gas can on the ground it is'nt grounded.yes their is also a anti-static wire that runs through the pump hose but it wont be able to compinsate for that much static.so long way to the point. but if its not grounded right. you could be building feed back in the power wire and over loading the fuse
