Having problems with your 2001 Ford Escort ZX2 ?

Car will not crank sometimes unless you turn the key many times.

\015 This is a 1998 Ford Escort ZX-2. Sometimes the car will crank right up. Then other times when you turn the key to crank it, it just clicks. The engine does not turn at all. It only makes a clicking noise. After several times of clicking, it will crank. I have replaced the alternator, the complete starter, and the ignition switch and also a new battery. I am at wits end. I have contacted several certified car mechanics but all are puzzled. Can anyone help that knows.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 19-02-2018

Answers :

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

Check battery connections. Sometimes a weak connection will fail under very high loads like starting.
