Having problems with your 2001 Chrysler 300M ?

I think my timing belt went bad, how can i tell

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. If your timing belt is broke or slipping, it will not start or if it does, you will hear a backfire. You have a protection cover on the left of the engine. It is held on by just a bolt or two. Take that cover off and you will be able to see the timing belt. Make sure it is not missing any teeth or slipping. There are two covers visible at the top of the engine but you want to check the one in front. Thanks for using FixYa.
