\015 My cruise control stopped working. They say it's my clock spring. Can I replace that myself?\015
I would seriously recommend against not replacing it yourself..........unless you can follow exact instructions to the T.This procedure involves removing the airbag, and also involves a specialty tool to take up the tension on the back spring that holds tension against the lock-plate.This tool kit runs about $75 U.S. Dollars, and is available through some specialty tool carriers.I would hate to say yes you can go ahead and do it yourself, then forget to take on step and have the airbag deploy on you, that would run you another $175 just in the airbag module itself. This would be worth the money spent to a local repair shop to fix this, unless you feel confident enough in the repair of the clock spring.Get back to me if you have any questions, I hope I could help.
Care must be taken remove the airbag fuse and then remove the hord pad/ds airbag assemble you may need a special tool to do this like a TORX Bit with tamper proof hole in it T40 i think centre steering wheel and remove you may need to remove/loosen coloum trims to access clk spring unclip or unscrew. check that the assembly does not have an indicator that the clock spring is centred green tag or self tapper that locks the two bodys together goodluck
