Having problems with your 1999 Volkswagen Jetta ?

My check enging and EPC light suddenly came on in my 1999 VW Jetta VR6. I was wondering if it was something that needs to be fixed soon or not? There seems to be nothing wrong with the car otherwise that I have noticed. Runs fine, etc.

Answers :

Check engine lights mean that a sensor is not giving the computer a signal within an acceptable range. when this happens the car will go into "limp mode" which means it doesnt use most sensors and will guess what it should do. you can continue driving and cause no additional damage but you will use a little more gas than normal. You should get it fixed but it can be put off till you have the money and time to do it.
