Engine light came on. It's time for an oil

\015 Engine light came on. It's time for an oil change. Could this be why?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 19-03-2018

Answers :

No. Oil change has nothing to do with check engine light. When the check engine light comes on it means that a sensor one of about sixty or more is out of range and has stored a trouble code in your cars computer. the only way to find out why it is on is with a scan tool. the scan tool comunicates with your vehicles computer. the vehicles computer will show the trouble code for example p0426 and the definition like maybe an oxygen sensor out of range. this doesnt neccesarily mean that the sensor is bad just that it is out of normal range this could be caused by other circumstances like a vacuum leak or clogged air filter ect. sometimes the diagnoses can be tricky and sometimes it is a matter of changing a faulty sensor. But it does not mean your motor is going to blow or that you need an oil change. although it wouldnt hurt to check your oil and all other fluids just to keep safe.
Check your spark plugs. That's what mine was. Parts store said vac. leak.
