Having problems with your 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette ?

Ok I have a problem I have a 99 olds silhouette and it has some issue with the low coolant light coming on after I drive like 10 miles however when I release the gas say like at a stop light it goes off the coolant is full. also the radio resets(powers completely off)this problems both started occuring at the same time. the new problem is the check engine light will come on and the idle will stutter. once I get goin the check engine light will bling it only does this after I drive long distances

Answers :

The low coolant light is due to a defective low coolant sensor in the radiator, the problem is addressed in a GM Tech service letter, the sensor is located on the plastic side tank of the radiator, it is held in by a spring clip retainer, remove it and replace it, the part is fairly cheap. the radio resetting is related to the dead OBD 2 test connector, they are on the same fuse, u have lost the power to the keep alive memory of the radio and the key off power to pin #16 of the test connector, the fuse for this is in the passenger compartment fuse (side of dash pad under trim cover) box and is marked "CIGAR/DLC", replace that fuse and then retest the emission system for a fault code to see what is causing the Check Enegine light to come on.
Hmm sounds like a ECU playing up ,now this is an expensive repair on such an old vehicle ,best advice here is to go to scrapyard and find a accident damaged vehicle then remove the ECU with the transponder and the chip from the key and change the whole lot ,Then see how it goes
