Having problems with your 1997 Chrysler Cirrus ?

Replaced front plugs (2,4,6) and wires. Wasn't able to do rears. New cap and button. EGR tube not bolted down completely. Now idles @ 2000 RPM in gear. Goes up to 3000 when placed back in drive.

Answers :

Did the car just start this after you changed the plugs and wires? Try un-bolting the egr and see how it idles. This could be the problem. The egr may be bad. Also clean the throttle body. The butterfly rod it rotates on inside the body needs the most cleaning, it gets built up with gunk and starts to stick. So it may not be completely closing when the pedal is released, which will cause you to have a high idle when you start the engine. You can buy the throttle cleaner at any parts store. Just spray it all around in the body opening and closing the throttle, you will see a lot of black gunk drain out. Use a lint free cloth and wipe inside the body. Spray again around the rod the butterfly rotates on, wipe clean and let the car sit for about 5 min to let the cleaner dry so you don't think the car is flooded.
