Having problems with your 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee ?

My 1995 Jeep has over 100,000 miles on it and the transmission fluid had never been changed as I got this jeep new in 1995. I did change the fluid and filter last month and now it has started to slip. I have added lucas to the transmission and still the same is happening. What have I done or is there anything I can do without replacing the trans?

Answers :

Often trans shops will not replace the fluid for the reason you have now discovered. Gummy residue can build up and stick to the insides of the unit which the fresh oil will loosen. If that residue gets into the valve body all kinds of problems can begin. Possibly a shop can remove and clean the valve body but usually the unit is better off being rebuilt. Lucas is the only product I ever recommend because it works...if that has not helped likely a rebuild is in order.
