Having problems with your 1985 Toyota Pickup ?

Trailer brake lights do not work, trailer is wired correctly

Going off of you stating that your trailer is working, then we know the problem is in your truck. Your truck should have a converter box in it. Test the power going into the box, then test the wires coming out. It could be a short in the box, and you might just have to replace it. If you click here, you can view the installation instructions on a converter box.

Also, for this vehicle and year, Draw-Tite recommends running a separate cable to your batter to draw power from your battery to protect the vehicle wiring. It's not *required* but recommended. To view more information about this you can click here.

Also, check fuses, and use a non-conductive grease on the wiring to keep the plug clean.

Hope this helps!
I have a 2002 tacoma and have the same problem. From what I was told is that there is supose to be a relay to fix this provblem. I have yet to fix it but what I have been doing is just not using my brakes lol
