Having problems with your Toyota Passenger ?

We are fitting a reconditioned cyl. head to Toyota 2C T diesel turbo engine .On the new head gasket kit they say we should replace head bolts . The old ones are in perfect condition and came out easily with no binding , when old head was removed. In your experence with these engines ,can we get away with using the old head bolts ? We live on an isolated Island in the South Pacific and it is difficult to get engine parts like this from the local Toyota dealer.

Answers :

Many of today's engines require new head bolts because when they are tightened down they are stretched, and will no longer tighten to true torque. They should have shipped new head bolts with the new head.. Sorry about the bad news.
