My Tach on the 2005 Monte Carlo either reads low rpm or it reads clear off the charts. At Idle it will show 0 and at 55 mph it shows about 1500 rpm. Today it is showing clear off the gauge like it has gone clear around.

Flutter Hello, I have an 1989 jaguar 6 cylinder sovering or xj6. It was sitting around for 2 years and had a leakey fuel line. I just bought it. It started pretty rough with new fuel. After i repaired the line it idled perfectly. Now when i press the gas pedal, it flutters at 1300 rpm. Basically reachs 1300 the back down to 1100 every 0.5 seconds. My friend has an 87 and the distributor configuration is the same. also I replaced the fuel filter and there is lots of fuel pressure at the fuel rail

I would replace the O2 sensor on general principles and have a look at the screen sensor for the air flow sensing unit just ahead and slightly right of the coolant tank and behind and in line of the air filter housing. That little screen and its read ... 1989 Jaguar XJ6

Engine starts, reaches high rpm, then slowly returns to a rough idle, misses badly,no backfire, surges as if searching/adjusting air/ fuel/est,timing light shows mark constantly changing/erratic,engine then races to high rpm, only at that time(high rpm)does timing mark maintain correct 10 deg consistently, then returns to rough poor idle- engine cycles like this and wont maintain proper timing mark alignment until high rpm... anyone care to reply about this??? and what would be probable cause / possi

My 2005 Ram 1500 4.7 started running bad the other day after the engine light came on a few hours earlier. I have replaced the cam sensor and the throttle position sensor. It ran 200+ miles fine and then started again this afternoon. It dies or runs rough. It idles fine and at low RPM's seems ok. Picking up the idle a little while in park, it runs fine until around 1700 RPM's + and then the engine constantly bounces around as if I were giving it the gas and letting off back and forth. Then at id

I have a 1986 D-21 Nissan SE that would not idle properly it would idle from 700 to 1100 rpm, and when you drive it sometimes it runs good for awhile and then you come to a stop light and the truck stalls. It has new spark plugs, new wires, new cap, new injectors, I just cant figure this out, one thing I notice is when the car is idling rough from 700 to 1100 rpm it seems like it has a vacuum leak, when I spray carb. cleaner around the throttle body the rpm picks up right away, I changed all my

I have a 95 mustang v6 that I got as a project. It had blown was gasket and ran rough at idle with lack of power. I redid heads and gaskets etc it runs great and has good power but still idles rough at around 500 rpm, step on gas it smooths right out. I changed plugs wires and coil, and seafoamed it. It sometimes idles smooth but its short lived. When in traffic idling engine lite will blink then when moving it goes out and shows no codes. Any ideas?

Idling is too slow at 500 rpm.......think about at least 650 rpm to charge the battery and keep up inertia for better take-off power.\015\012 Find out how to increase rpm, whether it's a screw-stop adjustment or a timing problem. don-ohio (:^) ... Cars & Trucks

My 2003 Jetta GLX (V6) starts with a very low idle 800-900 regardless of the outside temperature and maintain at 850 or so during normal operating temperature. The idle is too slow to kick-in the charging system and I have to tap the gas pedal to 1500 RPM, otherwise, I will have a Battery light indicating low voltage or Alternator Workshop. I believe the idle should initially be at 1500 rpm, especially when the outside temperature is around 0 degree. Everyone of my cars, idle fast at 15

Hi.I cannot see other's comment, but the reference to carb cleaner spraying makes me understand that you are talking about a vacuum leak. A vacuum leak won't cause the engine idle low. A vacuum leak aspires extra air into the vacuum and t ... Volkswagen Jetta

My 03 ranger with 3.0 flex fuel "v" eng. auto trans. runs fine under normal conditions. However the engine will shut down/cough when I reach @ 3700 rpm. MPH does not effect the problem. Gearing does not effect the problem. It runs fine again once it drops below 3700 rpm. There are no dtc's or lights on. Fuel consumption is normal. No hard start, rough idle, or other issues. 1990 Subaru Legacy Wagon 4 cyl. auto It has 270K and has had regular service all it's life. Most recently at 260K we had the timing belt changed and associated tune-up. It ran normally around town for about 5 months but all of a sudden it runs as if one cylinder has checked out. I have a '94 accord LX 5-speed with 111k miles. When I drive above around 70ish mph, the car starts to run a little rough, it begins to shake a little. There is no CEL light on and the oil was just changed. It seems to run fine under 70 mph and at various RPM's. It does seem to idle slightly rough lately, but NOT badly. The temperature gague is not reading hot when this problem occurs. This car seems like it may have sat around for a while before I got it. Thanks to anyone that can help/ reads

The idle is rough. If you give it gas the engine trys to die. If I get the idle slowly up to 2000 rpm then the engine revs between 2 and 3000 rmp. If you floor the pedle in idle , the car dies. If you. Try and do a powe breake, the car dies. The car will not go over 25 mph. I have replaced the spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, idle air control valve, drive belts. I just replaced plugs and wires on the vehicle and now have rough idle and idle vacuum is steady at 15 inches in Michigan (no altitude). I tried spraying carb cleaner around hoping I would see a jump in RPM at idle - no luck. If I had a vacuum diagram, it might be easier, but I suspect it was something I did replacing the wires. Any ideas?

Probably you crossed some spark plug wires. Check the engine's firing order in a manual (and often embossed on the front of the engine), then see if each wire is going to the correct cylinder. And check how the cylinders are numbered. Some V engines ... 2002 Pontiac Montana

Hi i have a 2002 hyundai xg350l while driving the car accelerates without depressing the pedal further, in park when i reach 4000 rpm the rpm shoots up to about 4500 rpm without depressing the pedal further. there is no check engine light, it passed code ckeck. it also runs a little rough on idle starts fine can anyone help me with this?

I'd say sounds kinda like a missfire although with the absence of an engine code I would lean more towards a vacuum leak somewhere. Chk all your lines while cars running to see if you might have a vacuum leak. ... Hyundai Cars & Trucks

Hello, My 2001 Tundra has developed a minor rough idle. It does not stall out but the rpm's sometimes drop to around 500. The dealer said I needed 3 new fuel injectors at a cost of around $1,000 installed. They told me it couldn't be the throttle body since only cylinders 2, 4, and 6 were indicated as faulty and therefore, if it was the throttle body, all cylinders would be affected. They had no record of the throttle body being cleaned during the diagnostics check. What do you think I should do

My 97 ford f250 heavy duty has been idling rough alot lately. when driving, everything seems to be fine. coming to a stop, when i put the clutch in to take it out of gear, the rpm's stay high (around 1500) until i am at a complete stop. that is when the rpm's drop. it does'nt die, but its getting there! any suggestions on what the problem might be? thanks

Depending on which motor you have it may be a simple fix or you may have a cracked engine head. At a complete stop - turn on your A/C if it dies then I would be thinking cracked head. If it stays running then it is most likely either the TPS throttle ... 1997 Ford F250 SuperCab
