Coolant Problems I've been doing extensive work with my 1999 Ford Taurus 3.0L OHV. I have replaced all engine gaskets from the head gasket up, the front bank cylinder head (#'s 4-6)- the rear bank head only had a maximum of 20% leakage on the leak-down test and showed no signs of warpage (used a feeler gadge and razor blade set at a myriad of angles and positions to check). We have changed the timing chain, front engine cover gasket (timing gasket), front oil seal, water pump, radiator cap, flus

Hi there. It sounds like you have done the most obvious checks and I can assure you by-passing the heater core will have no effect. There are three possible causes that you need to investigate further and you will need specialist equipment for it - ... 1999 Ford Taurus

My 2003 Ford Taurus LX has 47,000 miles, a 3.0 V - 6 cylinder OHV engine (engine code 2) and is not firing on cylinder No. 5 when idling. At speeds above idle, all cylinders appear to be firing OK, but the engine runs roughly when idling. I am getting normal mileage of 25 mpg on the Interstate at full speed. The amber ?Check Engine Soon? light is ON steadily, but if I am sitting at a red stop light for a minute or so, the ?check engine light? starts blinking and the engine really gets mu

All system checked already, try that, direct the injector positive wire to 12v constant @ battery post, direct the ignition coil ground to engine mount, and make sure that the fuel pressure is not less than 30psi, check all the supply voltage for ac ... 2003 Ford Taurus

1999 ford taurus- yellow engine warning light keeps showing cylinder 1 misfire. I have: 1. Changed out plugs and wires, 2. switched wires around, 3. replaced fuel injector, 4. replaced coil. Still misfires. That being said, I seem to have a small unnoticeable coolant leak. There is nothing on the ground. Could some be leaking into the Cylinder?

Yes.You could have a leaking head gasket or a crack in the cylinder head. After driving the car for a few days the spark plug should show signs of coolant on the tip.You may want to do a compression test to see if that cylinder is low on c ... 1999 Ford Taurus

01 ford taurus stars and runs well from cold start. when restarting hot engine it acts like it is floodingout. it will not restart and run till it cools off. coolant temp. is normal. fuel rail has fuel under pressure. have changed the engine coolant sensor, did not help. engine is a 3 liter ohv with 77000 miles.

There is a short somewhere between you ignition switch and your starter. I would first check your fusible link to make sure it is good and then check backwards to the ignition switch with a continuity meter......that will show where the short i ... 2001 Ford Taurus

My 95 Taurus Sho 3.2L, stalls every day. All lights comes on when it stalls. The coolant reservoir is full but, the light in the panel shows LOW COOLANT. Ford Dealer can't find the problem. They used the scanner for Codes and no results. I changed the Coolant Temperature Sensor and the car still stalls, and the light stills shows low coolant. Ford Dealer Changed the ignition Model, but no result. In the morning with cold engine, the car will stall for sure and I have to wait 20 minutos to start

This most likely one of two things. Either you have a bad crank sensor or you have a water pump that is trickling coolant down on your crack sensor. I have experienced both of these scenarios with my 92 SHO. Good luck. BTW, the low coolant sensor is ... 1996 Ford Taurus

White smoke Other User Has The Same Problem Comment by dcredicott1, posted on Oct 09, 2008 I have a 2000 ford Taurus and when i drive it for awhile until the temp gauge gets to its normal state i notice a white smoke coming from the front grill and it only last for about 1-3 mins...also i have notice a coolant smell with the heater on. put the car doesnt lose coolant...i have just serived the coolant and everything was good by the ford dealer but it still makes me wonder...any thoughts

The smoke must come from a coolant leak close to the radiator, or a fin crack in the radiator itself. Check all hoses and clamps, idle hot and look for smoke. You may have a heater core corrosion issue, watch close for coolant leaks on the floor mats ... 2000 Ford Taurus
