Having problems with your Ford Focus ?

The cruise control switch on my 2005 Focus ST was having difficulty engaging. It felt as if it was catching on something when pushed. Then it stopped working.

It could be the transmission which is playing up. I have seen a lot, \015\012because I do on road adaptations on newly rebuilt European car \015\012transmissions. When you engage cruise control, it is forcing \015\012transmission to engage higher gear at low speeds, it is hard for engine \015\012to pull in higher gear. If car is designed to engage cruise control at \015\012lower speeds, transmission should automatically switch lower gear. \015\012Imagine what would happen when you shift to 5th at 40km/hr with a manual\015\012 gear box. I would check for diagnostic trouble codes in engine and \015\012transmission just to make sure its not anything else. I dont know what \015\012is the minimum speed to engage cruise on Focus; cruise control it is not designed to engage at lower speeds on most of \015\012the cars.

\015\012If I dont remember bad, in the manuals that it only works above 40km/h.
