Having problems with your Ford Escape ?

I have a ford escape 2002 i was driving on my way to work it started jerking and then stopped i have to tow it to my house cos the car service was already closed by that time. So later when i took it to the repair shop they told me that the problem is misfire, catalytic convertters needs replaced and aslo the ignition coils, too and the price almost keep my feet out . What should i do? HELP
