Having problems with your Ford Cars & Trucks ?

Changing gear at high rpm

\015 I gave my 2001 ford AU Fairlane v8 an oil and filter change and also cleaned out the throttle body. ever since i did this the vehicle now doesn't change into 2nd gear until 2.500 rpm, 3rd at 2.800rpm and have not yet managed to get it into 4th gear. it also feels like it has lost power. it also has no 1st gear when manually selecting.\015\012\015\012When i put the car back together and drove it out of the work shop, it was running for about a minute and then it started making a wining noise for about a minute, I could not find out where the noise was coming from.\015\012\015\012Any help would be much appreciated\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 18-09-2017

Sounds as if there is a cable not connected back on the throttle body's accelerater cable part. There should be one connect there coming from the transmission. I don't normally work on your model car as I am in the US but another thing you should do after cleaning the thottle body and plate id to disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes so the computer can relearn its idle. If you cleaned the throttle plate of carbon build up it now will close differently but your vehicles computer is still set at the old setting throught the throttle position sensor. This won't cause your problem but it should be done. Also check the throttle position sensor connector.
