Having problems with your Dodge Grand Caravan ?

When driving my 96 dodge grand caravan makes a **** and the transmission goes out and the car then will not change gears. However if I pull over or stop and turn the car off and restart it, it resets and drives fine. The problem seems to happen when in stop and go traffic and during street driving, but is ok on the freeway as long as my speed does not decrease too much. Is this a transmission problem or an engine control unit problem? The transmission was rebuilt in 2008.

Answers :

Sounds like the transmission module is going faulty (ecm). if the transmission was at fault and was mechanical it would be there all the time. now the good thing is seeing it is electrical chances are the computer stored a code and with a scan of the computer you can narrow it down to take the guess work out of it. so the best thing is to take it to a shop and have the computer scanned!
