I have a 1999 GMC Suburban. I have automatic four wheel drive but when I shift into four wheel high it makes clunking sound. I have not tried four wheel low. I wondered why I can still use auto four wheel drive but can't use four high. I would surmise that it's the solenoid on the transfer case but the clunking sound has me befuddled. Is this the four wheel just trying to engage but the bad solenoid can't complete the circuit? If it is the solenoid how hard is it to replace and what does the par

Grinding noise from behind the dash. The noise sounds like it is related to the tachometer. I have a 2004 Suburban with the Stabilitrak system where it is in All wheel drive all the time (no 2H only All wheel drive or 4L). The noise only happens when the vehicle is cold (below 40 degrees out) and then only when you turn to the right. I think the problem may be related to some type of wheel speed/engine rpm sensor to determine wheel slip. The noise sounds like two plasting gears grinding tog

The power steering makes a chirping noise at the base of the steering column when you turn the wheel in either direction. It makes the noise only when the vechicle is moving. It isn't a belt squeal. You don't have to turn the wheel hard, going around slight curves, just turning the wheel slightly it makes the noise. I changed the alternator on the car and I may have gotten some air in the power steering system and Idon't know how to bleed the system. 92 Honda Accord

1999 chevy suburban 4-wheel drive. In front wheel drive lately, starting up from a hard stop, there is a skip - or momentary hesitancy - that seems like a drivetrain or transmission issue. It feels like something slipped, temporarily. It doesn't happen all the time and only at low speed but, when it does, it is noticable. 168,000 miles and no other problems I am aware of. Any ideas?
