The first thing you need to do is make sure you can purchase a new AC clutch assembly for your compressor . If you can , then all you will need is the special tool required to remove the old clutch face and install a new one . One is the clutch face removing tool and the other is the installing tool . Also , there should be a nut you'll have to remove before using the tools . A deep well socket will be required to remove it from the compressor shaft . Also the clutch face has a woodruff key which must be reinstalled with the new clutch face .
FIRST OF ALL HAVE A GARAGE OR DEALERSHIP DISCHARGE AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM REMOVING THE REFRIGERANT.TO REMOVE AC COMPRESSOR CLUTCH YOU NEED TOOLS SUCH AS SNAP RING PLIERS, SEAL SEAT REMOVER AND INSTALLER,BEARING INSTALLER,YOU NEED PULLEY REMOVAL AND INSTALLER TOOL AND SERVICE MANUALTO THE AC COMPRESSOR .LOOKING AT THE TOOLS YOU NEED.BEST TO TRADE OLD UNIT IN FOR A REBUILT.BECAUSE TOOLS AND PARTS ADD UP.

I have a 2000 Hyundai Elantra with 106,000 miles on it. The heater/ac blower locked up. Burned out the resistor unit and the 30 amp fuse link when it went. I replaced the blower motor, resistor and fuse link and got the blower to run OK, but now the compressor won't come on. I jumpered to the A/C clutch and the clutch is OK and there is enough refrigerant in the system. The radiator fan does not come on either. I have none of the indicator lights on the push buttons that control the A/C.

This definetly sounds like the conclusion that I would come up with.....all of these sytems run throught the ecu, and as the blower motor blew, it may well have caused the grounding control circuti within the ecu to fail.....I would suggest removing ... Hyundai Elantra

I have a 1991 190e Mercedes benz, and i have replaced, the fan clutch mounting bracket, the fan pully, and the alternalter, and the surpentine belt, and now i have an annoying squeek comming from what looks to be a compressor, if you are looking at the motor from the front, it is on the lower left hand side? if you know what this part is? or better if you can send me a diagram of the engine compartment that would be great, as i would like to replace the defective part but i need to know what to

I do not have a diagram, but if you will look at the part, maybe ac compressor, the center of the clutch will turn by hand, might take a little effort to turn it,you should be able to reach down and turn the center of this clutch on the ac compressor.Als ... 1991 Mercedes-Benz 190

2001 Ford E-350 van. when you turn the blower on it blows a fuse. I have replaced the resistor and motor. I know the clutch on the compressor need replaced. could that be causing the fuse to blow?

Clutch Replacement I need to replace the clutch in my 93 Saturn SL1, I've replaced two clutches (in other cars) and didn't think this would be a big deal, but I am told I have to pull the motor and trans to install a new clutch kit (--disc, pressure plate, and throw out bearing) Can I just to slide it over to the subframe and add another support, like jackstand, to hold it up? Do I have to remove the motor?

THe answer to your question is YES. No need to remove the motor. You do have to pull both axels (make sure you drain the lubricant first). I just did one last weekend that way and it worked ok. ... 1993 Saturn SL1

1998 GMC Sierra. Blower motor works sometimes. No particular circumstances, just when it wants to. Checked all fuses, relays, even replaced the resistor, nothing. Followed the wire harness and found the two pigtails that others have mentioned. Took the wires off, black and purple, and turned ignition on. Getting around 11 volts on all sittings except for the highest setting, it reads 0 volts. The compressor turns on at the console, all the switches on the console work, just not the fan.

Could it be the blower motor it self? sometimes they have a "bad spot" when it is not working, can you hit it and make it run? pretty common on these trucks. the switch is also common. they often melt at the connector on the back making a bad connect ... 1998 GMC Sierra

92 CAMRY- The A/C does not work. It was charged up by replacing the R-12, with R-134. Still it doesn't work. The A/C light, after about 5 seconds of compressor being on begins to flash. Also at the same time the second fan motor, when the A/C is pressed does not turn on. The clutch while the engine is turned off can be turned only by hand about 3/4 of a revolution before it sticks. Is there any idea what is wrong?

My Sienna has a very loud sqeel coming from the clutch of the A/C compressor. I want to know if there is anything I can do to fix it with out replacing it. I have tried spraying it with carberator cleaner and that seems to help a little. But it still sqeels when I turn the A/C on or speed up after a stop with it on. Any suggestions other than replacing the clutch. If not, any tutorials on how to replace the clutch or compressor.

You can replace just the clutch. You will need a special puller to remove the clutch, it screws to the front of the compressor and presses it off. I believe the same tool is used to install it, also. Not completely sure on that point. The tool may ... 1997 Lincoln Town Car

An AC shop says I have a bad compressor clutch and that I need to replace the entire compressor. I don't have the money to pay such a high bill. I asked about just replacing the clutch and they don't recommend it because apparently removing the old one often takes a piece of metal from the compressor housing with it, thus causing the compressor to fail a few months later. Is this correct?

My 2005-3.8L Grand Caravan A/C Clutch Assembly is making noise. Can just the clutch and bearing assembly be replaced w/o replacing the entire compressor and discharging the system? I have narrowed it down to this by spraying lube behind the a/c clutch assembly and the noise goes away. Already replaced Idle Pully and Tensioner Assembly.

Replaced the compressor in my 1999 Dodge Caravan. The pulley failed on the old one so I bought a new compressor with clutch. I recovered the R-134a and replaced the compressor. I recovered 1 oz of old from the old compressor. I added the same amount to the new compressor. Had pulled a vacuum for 1 hr and it held great. recharged the system and the refrigerant blew out of a valve where the high side and low side lines attach. I check the system but I had only put in 2.33 lbs as the decal stated.

The new compressor was likely shipped pre oiled. it should have had a tag on it saying if it was oiled or not, and how much. if you added more oil, the system has probably been over oiled and hydro locked. recover the refrigerant again, if you are wo ... 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan
