Having problems with your Chevrolet Cavalier ?

I installed a new belt on my 2002 cavalier, the original shredded, and it won't turnover.I didn't loosen the tension lever to install the belt because I couldn't figure out which tool or how to even fit the tool to loosen it,too much obstruction it seems. The belt is installed per diagram and some of the pulleys twitch when I try to start the car.Is loosening the tension lever critical or could there be a larger problem? Unfortunately I had to drive 2 miles to park when the belt shredded, could that

Answers :

Check your battery first, make sure its good. no. if you managed to get the belt on withiut prying the tensioner up, great(wow!! but great). that will not do anything to anything else. unfortunatley you would have been running off the battery. see if the engine can be given at least 1 revolution by hand. if it will not move. something else has gone awry.
