I am a certified master technician with 12 years experience. i just took on a 2001 hummer h1 side job, i have fixed multiple coolant leaks on it, replaced almost the whole steering and suspension in the front, and that was all fairly easy and standard repairs. i figured i would save the back brakes for last since they would be the easiest, lol. if anyone out there can just give me some pointers on doing these rear brakes i am only doing pads, there just isnt any room back there, i am also doing

I need to replace a front brake line on my 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 duelly. This is an ABS system. The dealer's mechanic said it would be an easy fix...just unbolt at both ends and replace. My repair manual shows a much longer repair involving an extensive but not well explained system of completely bleeding out the brake lines before doing the repair and an even more confusing description of refilling and bleeding the lines afterward. It also mentioned a special tool that I do not have. Is it reall

No it is not that difficult you need to change the line then bleed the affected brake which consists of two people one pumping up and holding the brake pedal down and the other one loosening off the bleeder valve to let the air out depending on how ... 1998 Dodge Ram 3500 2WD

The handbrake on my 1997 audi a4 avant 1.8 petrol sport slips back down, the handbrake is having the desired effect however as you raise the arm (without depressing the button) there are no clicks and it simply falls back down, obviously releasing the brake again! Tranny problem Was just coming home and was parking my car. Put it into park, but didn't have park. In fact i had no gears at all. Pushed it into parking space and had to set parking brake so it would not roll back. It is a 1999 Cavalier. Any idea the cost of repairs?

It won't move in any gear postion? And it rolls in park? Does the speedometer go up when you try to drive it? First check the cv shafts to make sure they aren't broke. ... 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier

Failed inspection need exhaust pipe and cat converter - how much will this cost - i just spent $771 to fix brakes, 1 tire, tune up, axle, motor mount, some worn belts and thought all was good - thought the only repair necessary was to replace timing belt which i know is expensive. went to inspection and failed for exhaust pipe. i went back to mechanic who said he knew nothing about this even though my car was up on the lift and now he claims it will cost me $450. The timing belt is around $600 s

Cat converters are not cheap, if your exhaust can be fixed for 450 you are doing good. A timing belt at 600 is normal. The fact the mechanic didn't find an exhaust leak is here nor there. You now need it fixed to pass an inspection. ... 1995 Toyota Camry

2004 avalanche..46k miles..was making a noise that sounded like something was warped ..abs would engage below 5 mph..took to repair shop and they replaced both front hubs..said the abs was fixed ..sensors were rusted and left bearings were bad..said noise was now the tires..i do not think so.will not take it back there..still makes a warping sound like a warped disc..brakes feel fine though.what else could this be??

Try rotating your tires from front to back. It may help with the noise. Get a front-end alignment which can also help with the noise by correcting a "rub" sound that originates from the 2 front tires fighting each other for control. ... 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche

My 2002 Camry makes creaking noise when I lightly step in the brakes. I have changed the brake disks and pads twice. Initially, I had replaced by brake pads and disks with non-OEM sets and the creaking sound would come back every few weeks after I had my mechanic clean them. After a few months, I decided to go to the dealer and changed to a completely new OEM set of disks and pads. They even changed the clips as the previous was loose. And, the problem is now back again after 3days. It sounds li

Right rear brake light doesn't work, on my 2001 Z-06 Corvette. Took it to the dealership a long time ago for the recall on the steering column. Hi. I just bought a micra 2003 with 66,000 miles, but have had a tensioner on the timing chain fixed and an oil seal nearby fixed. I took it back to Charles Hurst and they spotted 2 more oil leaks one near the timing chain and one near the gear box - they said it would mean lifting the engine out to fix them. However, when I got back to them to arrange a time for repair, they told me it was the seal at the crank shaft and I 'd only need to leave the car in for a day. Do you think they're mess

Hard to say, it depends on how trustworthy you think they are. From what you say, it appears to be oil seals leaking, you can take a chance and add a Wynn's product to you oil that swells and softens oil seals and stops them leaking. I ... Nissan Versa

I have 2006 Dodge Stratus 4 cycl. The problem is that it depends on the mileage and the condition of the car and if it was kept up, the timing belt is what keeps the top and bottom of the motor in time, when the belt breaks the pistons come up and hit and bend the valves because the ... Dodge Stratus

Rust Repair I need to fix the cab corners on my truck and was wanting some opinions. Should I weld in the panels or glue them down. I was also wondering if I should just use a bedliner and go down the side to cover it up or should I paint it. Painting it would look nicer but is it worth the extra cost. How much do you think it would cost to do both of them and also how much of each will I need. These figures will help influence my decision. Thank you very much for your help.

TRYING TO CHANGE MY FRONT BRAKE PADS ON MY GS300 LEXUS 1993. My dashboard doesnt work. Everything is on zero. The car runs fine and starts fine but I have no idea how fast Im going or how much gas I have left. The service engine soon light is on and the ABS light. When this first started it would occasionally happen and both lights would come on but then for no obvious reason the dash would work again and just the service engine light would stay on. I have had this to five different repair shops and no one has any ideas on how to fix it.
