I just had my 2007 Volvo S40 right front wheel bearing replaced. However, there is still a roaring noise coming from the front of the car when I turn the wheel to the right. My mechanic told me that turning to the right strains the bearing on the left and that's where the noise is coming from. Does that sound right??

Turning to the right changes the load on the left, but thatisn't the problemThe problem is poor diagnoses & failure to replace bothwheel bearings when one failsAfter all-- they both have the same mileage on them ... 2007 Volvo S40 1.6

While driving the car squeels as i turn the wheel, it will make more noise when going left rather than right. open the hood and it sounds like the noise is coming from in or around the PS pump. However when i jack up the car and keep the front right wheel off the ground and turn the car on and turn the wheel there is very little noise. and yes there is PS fluid in the pump, it is leeking but very very very slowly.

Replace all PS Pump fluid with synthetic oil fluid and add a stop leak to system , probably you have extreme cavitation in old fluid . ... Cars & Trucks

There is a noise coming from the right-front wheel area during a left turn. It almost sounds like a tire-rub on the inner wheel-well cover, but it also makes this same noise when stationary while turning the wheel to the left. Is it possible for a power-steering pump to make a groaning sound when the steering wheel is turned in this direction, but not when making a right turn? This noise becomes increasingly loud during cold weather, but diminishes slightly after the car comes up to running t

My 2003 GMC Envoy 6 Cyl. was making a clacking sound when driving over pot holes and rough roadways. I have a 1987 Dodge caravan with 216K on it. I have a humming - grinding sound coming from the front. I replaced the left front wheel bearing assemble ( it was pretty bad) but still have the same noise and it is getting louder. To see if the left wheel bearing was going, I jacked up the car and let the wheels spin. I could not hear any difference between left and right and I am starting to think it is the transmission. Does this have a trans-axle that would make a grinding noise like that? Thank

Try making tight turns to the right and then to the left. see if the grinding noise comes and goes. It could be your C/V joint and they need to be replaced. The noise will only come when your making the tight turns, you don't have to go fast. ... Dodge Caravan

Jaguar S Type 2001 . Few days ago I start hearing a constant noise while driving ( like someone is driving a mini scooter ), coming possibly from front right wheel. There is no noise when car is moving slowly , but past 30 km/h noise is coming and increasing proportionate to speed . I am suspecting wheel bearing problem . What do You think of it ? Thank You ! Our 2005 Trailblazer has started to make a strange noise somewhere in the right front wheel area. I jacked the car up and checked the C/V joints, the wheel is tight, the brakes seem fine. When I was jacking the car, the spring/shock squeaked some when loaded and unloaded. For a day after, the noise went away but has returned. I thought maybe it was the shock, but the noise doesn't only happen on bumps, it sounds like it might be coming from a rotating area. It sounds almost like something is rub

When backing up and turning the wheel to the left feels like the front end drops there is no noise it feels almost like a hard staright wind blowing across the front end. I own a ford festiva 1992 model, the car has been very reliable. just yesterday I notice a knocking noise that seems to come when turning the steering wheel from left to right even if the car is stationary. The nocking nise is louder if someone is seated in the car. Note: I had both front wheel ball joints replaced approx 2 years ago. Any assistance in pointing out what the probelm could be would be greatly appreciated.

Wheel bearing, steering tie rod ends, steering rack or maybe but not likely a bad cv axel, only a few possiblities, i had this exact model car for few years and anyone should be able to figure it out if you take your time and jack car up or drive on ... 1992 Ford Festiva

I have a 2001 Silhouette. I have a noise in the front end that sounds like a wheel bearing going bad. It increases in loudness with speed. At low speed it can't be heard at all but at around 50 to 60 it becomes audible and at around 80 it's very irritating. If I make a right turn it stops and is audible either straight ahead or in a left turn. I can't tell which side the noise is coming from as I sit in the car. Do you think it could be something other than a wheel bearing?

I have a 2002 Olds van and it also makes a noise under the front driver wheel well. Mine was mostly when I hit potholes or large dips causing the shocks to compress. The problem is a metal to metal contact between a bushing lip and the suspension. ... 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette

My 2005 Chevy trailblazer started to make a humming noise...when I get to 30mph to 40 mph it seems the worst. It kind of feels like I have the car in Drive 2, it feels like it is restricted. It sounds like it is coming from the right front of the vehicle. There is 84,000 miles on it and at 30,000 miles I had the left front wheel bearing replaced. How can I tell for sure if it is a wheel bearing or just my tires. They are a few years old and were not cheap.

Why does my car make howling noise that sounds like its coming from either front right or center of the car, it doesnt pull while going straight, the engine is newer with 40,000 miles on it, the wheel doesnt wiggle at all, it starts howling at about 10 mph and gets louder as i accelerate, the tyres are newer, and balanced, this is a louder howling noise too btw. and the tranny shifts nicely

You probably have a bad hub bearing. If you can change the noise by slightly turning the vehicle one way or the other it is a hub bearing. If you turn left and the noise is still there then it is the right front bearing. If you turn right and the noise ... 2000 Chevrolet Malibu

2009 RX 350 is making a loud grinding sound when I accelerate, then it goes away. The noise appears to come from the front right wheel area. I have AWD. It especially happens while driving up a hill. I've taken it in 2 times and no one can reproduce the sound, which is strange because it make the noise every time I drive the car. There are 46,000 miles on the car and it's occurred since I brought it home (34,000 miles).

1997 mercury mountaineer: There is a loud crunching noise coming from behind the drivers side front tire only when making right turns or going straight. the faster the speed the louder the noise. left turns make no noise. sounds like metal crunching and clanking on metal and you can feel the noise rumble in the car under your feet and in the steering wheel. I am not very mechanically inclined, but I am not mechanically stupid either, so any answer needs to be thorough please...

Noise Have a 2006 Chevy Impala. Makes "grinding" noise like I have knobby tires on it in the Front. By jacking it up and running the car in drive, the noise is coming from passenger side at the transaxle end of the right cv axle (I have already replaced that cv axle and it did not change anything.) When I had the cv axle off, the wheel bearing did not feel like it had any play in it and it rotated smoothly. The noise pitch corresponds to the vehicle speed whether accelerating or coasting. T

My transmission is going bad. Mi acura tl 200 has 110 k miles and at 50 k has a transmission change due to a recall. CAR NOISE There is a constant tinkling sort of noise coming from around about my front right wheel. My mechanic said it was dirty breaks and cleaned them, but it is as bad if not worse than before. Would anyone have any ideas? All suggestions gratefully received!!
