Having problems with your Cars & Trucks ?

I have a 98 BMW 328i with a manual 5-speed transmission. One day I get in the car and noticed it was hard to shift into gears the clutch felt good and car would drive normal just stiff to put into gears and grinds when I shift into reverse. Would this be a clutch or transmission problem?

Answers :

It could be typically due to one or two things:

1) The clutch plate is sticking on the gearbox splines due to build up of corrosion or lack of lubrication. May happen especially after long standing with no operation.

2) Gearbox oil is old and requires replacement.

3) Clutch operation requires adjustment or repair. Check clutch fluid or cable condition and operation.
