I was driving my 86 2.8 fiero a couple of months back my oil line broke the wiring harness that travels to ecm caught fire i towed it back to my place changed the oil line repaired burnt wires one at a time changed the oil when i started it i noticed the exhaust sounded louder and it only had half the power it use to so i changed plugs,wires,cap,rotar,when i tested it code 42 showed up electronic spark timing also changed ignition module,and pcm still runs the same if anyone can give ideas i app

It almost sounds like the pickup sensor in the distributor is bad and erratically sending the signal to your control module. You would have to remove the roll pin in the distributor drive gear to disassemble the distributor to access the sensor. ... Ford Bronco II

I have a 1996 Chevrolet c1500 with a 5.7 Vortex motor. When I drive down the road it dies periodically, it starts back up pretty easy. I have done a complete tune up (oil change, new spark plugs and spark plug wires, new air filter, new fuel filter, and new fuel pump). It still cuts out and dies on me periodically. 92 Roadmaster 5.7 liter. Replaced distributor cap, rotor and eletronic control unit, plugs and wires, coil, fuel pump and line filter. There is spark at the plugs but the engine will not fire. Disconnected catalytic converter still won't start. Fuel injectors seem to be spraying adequate amount of fuel into carb. Crank engine for a 30 - 40 seconds and it won't fire.

Somedays will idle, run and drive fine. Most days will only start with starting fluid, and once running you have to hold gas down. If you let it idle down it will quit, but when given gas is fine. Have changed distributor cap, rotor button, plugs, plug wires, map sensor, idle-air control sensor, throttle position sensor. New oil, oil filter, intake gasket, air filter. New fuel pump, strainer, and fuel filter. Still the same problem.

Won't start My 1992 Lexus SC300 will not start. It turns over like it is going to but never quite gets there. There is spark coming from the coil but the spark plug that I pulled does not seem to be firing. The plugs and wires along with the cap and rotor were just changed less than 1000 miles ago. U can losen the fuel line at the back of the rail by the egr and put the jey in the on position and see if gas leaks since u don't have a fuel pressure tester easiest way I know if u smoke u might not want to while checking that ... 1992 Lexus Sc 300

Check all of your grounds: There is one in front of the transmission leading from the negative wiring from your battery. Another goes from your battery wiring to the inside of your fender area. 10mm bolt. There is another on your driver's side motor ... 1992 Honda Accord

My 1999 Pontiac Sunfire now will not start. It will crank, but will not fire. I had the ignition control module checked, and it tested good. When cranking, it acts like the firing order is off, but all plug wires are in the correct firing order. the #1/4 coil pack has a couple of fine cracks in the outer housing, would that cause the problem? Hi, common thing with the mazda was the coil or the ignition amplifier going faulty, both of which are located within the distributor, the coil ususally gives the symptoms you describe, a weak spark. The coil is the most common failure aswell for you ... Mazda 626

I replaced cap and rotor, plugs and plug wires. It ran better but seemed to hesitate when you initially step on the gas. Next to the ignition coil is another module mounted on a heat sink. I think it is ignition coil driver. Would the driver be causing a problem with hesitation and possible mis-fire. Vehicle is a 1999 Suburban. 5.7 vortec engine.
