I have a 2010 ford escape..prob started as a coolant leak..took it to ford dealer, they repl water pump..a week later we noticed when u stop a red lite heater starts blowing cold air..took back to ford, repl water pump again..still same prob..blows good hot air when above idle, blows cool at idle in drive..shift to neutral & blows hot again..in drive hold brake & rev engine & blows hot again????..ford says it needs another water pump!!!..any suggestions(besides a different ford dealer)..its still

The performance of the heater indicates low coolant level. Pretty strange about the multiple water pumps, but if is is under warranty, you need to keep going back to the dealer. They must be missing something... ... 2008 Ford Escape

I recently purchased a 2003 Subaru Legacy with 101,000, automatic transmission. The car had the head gaskets, timing and water pump done around 100,000 miles. I noticed last night that the engine temp gauge was a little past the 3rd line towards but not near the red. I shut the heater off and the temp dropped, but after turning it back on the temperature climbed again. Any suggestions to what's going on? This is my first Subaru, I've heard about the stories and that's why I had everything done b

Usually, if you shut the heater off, then the temperature will climb. The interior heater will actually assist in cooling the engine's coolant.Subaru head gaskets rarely ever fail by the way.First, pressure test the cooling system and make su ... Cars & Trucks

1995 Dakota 2.5 cylinder. Runs up to the hot mark then comes down to about half. It continues to do this. Replaced the thermostat, coolant temp sensor and heat sensor for the temp gauge, has proper coolant levels, has been tuned up. Nothing works, heat dont work. Im thinking about flushing the system and replacing the water pump. Any suggestions?

I would flush the heater core out: open the hood and look on the \012firewall. There should be 2 rubber hoses going into the \012firewall and into the truck. If factory they will have spring clamps just\012 like on the radiator hose. Re ... 1995 Dodge Dakota

My Bmw 316i is overheat problem. after starting the engine within 15/20 min the temp gauge touch red light. I have change my water pump. one think i notice that the radiator coolant is not so hot, just warm. any body can suggest me what i have to do ?

You know most people think of the worst when it comes to these things. Try this, let your run for about ten minutes then shut it off. Feel both upper and lower hoses and see if they feel about the same in temp. If not than it could be your thermostat ... 1997 BMW 318

The temp gauge continues to go near overheat but not quite there. I find no leaks at radiator, hoses, water pump, etc. I think it may be the thermostat but can't seem to figure out where it is located so I can replace it. Any other suggestions. I believe the cooling fan is working but will further check that.

Follow the top radiator hose from the radiator back to the engine .Where it stops at should be the location of the thermostat housing. ... 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera

Overheating. I have a 98 Mercury Mountaineer. Tonight, the check engine light came on and I checked the heat gauge, and it was hot. I pulled over right away to let it cool. I checked to see if there was coolant in the reservoir, which there was. Next I checked the bottom radiator hose which was lukewarm. I next checked the upper radiator hose which was hot. The hose that goes to the thermostat , to the water pump was also hot. There was no notice of water on the ground, or from the pump itself a

Started leaking from water pump. changed water pump, now the temperature gauge shoots to the red after a few minutes. I checked the thermostat & it works. I did the boiling water test and it opens fine. Does the caviler have two thermostats? Is it possible that the water pump can have a defect?

Only one thermostat ,could have an air lock but iam not familar with this model so i wouldnt know if it had a bleed off somewhere ,if not then take the top heater hose off the heater next to firewall and not from teh engine side and fill till coolant ... 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier

Water leak im a young DIY guy. im struggling to find the water leak, my next move is the gasket and thermostat. even possible water pump seal? water is not mixing with oil, water seems to be leaking out the block. is it possible cause of the gasket is just leaking from the water side and not oil? pipes fine, radiator fine, the experience.== that i went through 2 nights ago i checked the water it was a bit low but did not fill it up cause it was hot.(rather fill up on a cold block) filled it u

My car has never overheated before but 2 days ago it started overheating. the gauge went from cold all the way to the hot as far as u can get. i got the water pumped changed and thermostat. but its still overheating. nothing is leakin no clacking no smoke or steam but the water pump is very hot..i have a chevy venture 2001 what should i do.....also i had my stepdad put some freon and was wondering if that might had something to do with it

A car overheats only from 2 causes:\012\012\0121 - not enough coolant, but i think you would have found that by now2 - the coolant doesn't run; since you have already replaced the water pump and the thermostat, the only other possibility ... 2001 Chevrolet Venture

Ruptured/cracked heater core hot water tube (metal tube) is leaking very badly. I need a workaround/fix. The heater core blew several years ago and I bypassed it by connecting the heater core inlet hose to the heater core outlet hose... but now the heater core hot water inlet TUBE (metal) has ruptured. I'm not sure what type of connection exists near the water pump going into that tube (grateful if someone knows and can tell me)... but am hoping that perhaps I can just disconnect the hot wat

If water pump fails, how would i know? the car is an 80td, 130k . fans never cut-in, temp gauge never gets above 60. T car also consumes coolant very slowly. I understand there are many possible causes of this but i also read of mamy people who avertise their 80s with "new water pump". Any ideas as to why water pumps fail or any other causes of my problems would be much appreciated.

Your temperature guage will show up in case the car was running and so will indicate a lower radiator water level. This indicates there is a leak and most often the gaskets along the water pump fittings or the pulley will have signs of water leak or ... 1991 Audi 80

Hello, I have a problem with a heat, mechanic replaced thermostate, water pump, radiator, also blowed air out heater core. But problem still there. It gives me cold air, water gauge moves a little from cold toward hot, then drops down ( several times) then it goes to middle and I get hot air and again can drop to cold. Seems mechanic changed everything. Does anyone knows what might be causing this... Thank you

I have a 2003 Ford Explorer that is overheating. I have replaced the thermostat, replaced the water pump. The odd thing is that the temp gauge "bounces" between the mid level and the red block. It moves like a tachometer does. There is water in the res, and no leaking of coolant. It was driven over 1000 miles without a problem, but once we reached the city and start and stopped, the temp gauge went crazy. Suggestions?

1989 toyota pickup, 4 cyl. just replaced thermostat because the gauge showed temperature as getting hot. Previously replaced the radiator with a brand new one because of a leak. NO coolant leaking now but the overflow tank is filling up. The engine is still showing the gauge creaping up to hot until i turn on the heater. Could the water pump be bad or thermostat bad?
