1997 ford contour overheating. fan not coming on. fan works with ac on but when the switch/sensor is unplugged on bottom of radiator fan goes off even in ac mode. i thought if i jumped wires at switch/sensor the fan would run all the time but it does not it has not got rel hot. at idle the guage goes to the edge of the red. the coolant in the res. gets to 200 degrees or so. ithink the fan should be running . any advice?

I have a 1998 Ford Escort Wagon and my AC/HEAT works but it doesn't blow out. IT trickles out faster the faster I drive, but it seems the fan is not working. Also, I thought I had a radiator leak but it seems that my radiator fan just isnt working and from what a friend said it may be the reason I am losing coolant. Apparently it is overflowing do to the fan not working and the coolant boiling. Does this seem logical? My questions: Is the radiator fan and AC/HEAT blower fan the same? Do they wo

Your friend is right. To answer your other question these are two totally seperate fans but that does not mean that one fans fuse or relay did not affect the other. You should check your fuses and which ones, if any, are blown. It is likely that d ... 1998 Ford Escort

On 1998 ford contour 4 cyl. I replaced the switch for radiator fan checked all fuses and links yet the fan does not engage until (on gauge ) that says normal in a box, until passing the l on word normal. Then only one fan goes on for about 30 seconds. This fan is the same one that if a/c is on goes on automatically.( fan is on passenger side of car that works) other one never runs, so if at lengthy stop seems like it will over heat. How do I remedy this? On same car I have to drop tank to clean

Both fans should turn on together. Try to turn the one that's dead by hand--has it seized it's bearings? Replace that fan with one from a wrecking yard or buy a new one. If it seems that the fans turn on late (according to the temp gauge) replace th ... 1998 Ford Contour

I need to replace the radiator on an 01 Ford Taurus. The manual says to remove the radiator from the bottom, but a forum I saw says you can remove fan assembly and remove the radiator from the top. Is anyone familiar with this procedure? I would certainly appreciate all help. Also should I flush the system before or after I install new radiator? Thank you

I haven't had the pleasure of removing the radiator yet... looks like you could do it from top or bottom. If from botton, you'd have to begin by jacking the car up so you have enough clearance, secure on stands, and remove the spashguards. It looks l ... 2001 Ford Taurus

When the rad. fan comes on, the fan stays on only for one minute then shuts off. The temp. gage barely moves and the engine won?t cool off. I had the rad. cleaned. I installed a new Tstat., a new water temp., sensor switches, and a new water pump. After these repairs, the engine is still running hot. The only way that I can keep the engine running c

It sounds like either your temperature sender is U/S(but you replaced it right),or there is a problem with the relay that it operates(check this first)or short the sender wire/s and you will then know for sure which one it is.\015\012\015 ... 1993 Ford Escort 4 Door
