Having problems with your 2007 Dodge Magnum SRT8 Wagon ?

Oil light comes on any time your not on the gas

\015 I have a 05 dodge magnum with a lil 2.7 motor.in the last 6 months iv had the oil light come on more and more freqently, and now its got to the point that it comes on any time im not on the gas, even coasting down a hill doing 50 mph. is this a senser that can easily be replaced?. Can this leave me stranded,im pretty familier with tools in such, but if its inside the motor forget it.i have been reading on my magnum forums, they have said that if u use fram oil filters n anything but 5W30 oil it leaves a coating on some senser that has a lil wire on it and it fouls out.Ive always used fram filters in all of my cars and all types of oil (all within manifactors specs) if any one can lead me to a fix please do.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 18-09-2017

First thing you want to do is throw a manual gauge on it and make sure your oil pressure is within specs.
I am assuming that you made sure you actually had the oil up to the fill mark on the dipstick. You seem pretty knowledgable so I am pretty sure you got that already but I had to add it just in case.
If the pressure is fine then you definitely have a sensor problem. I have never seen a sensor mounted in the engine, usually it is mounted on the block in one of the oil passages and more rarely in the head.

I would definately check or replace the sensor. If you replace the sensor and it does the same thing, the oil pump is failing and has probably done some damage to the motor already
