Step by step removal of oil pan on chevy silvarado 4.3 v6 the problem is lifter noise when engine is cold and notice able oil preasure variation from +60 lbs to -40 lbs from time to time. I used gunk motor flush then change the oil and notice higher oil preasure and no lifter noise on cold start but after about a 1000 miles it seems to come back ? I thinking possibly a blocked sump screen , bad oil pump or suction leaks in the sump pick up ? what do you all see with this problem ?

Suzuki XL7 - Diesel sounding engine very loud noise. Initially started as a "tick-tick" noise. Currently at a Suzuki dealership (over a week long) and I am told that the problem is a inferior oil filter was used and it broke up. The pieces went into the engine and they need to clean it out. Then I was called back and said that some parts in the cylinder may have come apart and are foating in the engine when it going stopping the oil from getting to all of the engine. Have you ever heard of this

As a mechanic point of view,i have never heard that before,to be truthful and logic it is false, they are trying for an excuse. ... 2007 Suzuki XL-7

2004 Dodge Dakota 3.7L V6, manual. Below freezing out. Started up my truck it started making lifter noises upon start-up. I thought it was cold, so I let it idle for 10-15 minutes. As it was idling, it was making a loud clack sound every few seconds but not consistently. Noise got more frequent when accelerator was pressed. Check engine light came on, with error codes P300 and P304. Past due on an oil change, and the oil level was low (about 3 qts low) and sludge-like - thought this mi

Dirty oil.....Cold weather startup. Lifters noisy for a few seconds after startup. Random and cylinder 4 misfire. You have a rocker arm laying on the head. Very easy to re-install. But time consuming to get to it. A known problem with 3.7 and 4.7's. ... 2004 Dodge Dakota

I HAVE AN 07 DODGE CARAVAN 3.8 ENGINE 55K. WHEN I START THE CAR AFTER IT HAS SAT ABOUT 8 HOURS THERE IS A BEARING NOISE I BELIEVE FOR THE FIRST 20-30 SECONDS. AFTER THAT IT IS FINE. NO POWER PROBLEMS. IF IT SITS A FEW HOURS AND I START IT UP THE NOISE IS NOT THERE. SEEMS WORSE IN COLD WEATHER. FUNNY THING IS I HAVE ONLY HEARD IT SINCE I REPLACED THE EGR VALVE WITH DEALER PART. I HAVE EVERYTHING FROM OIL STARVATION/ OIL PUMP, LIFTER, ROD, SEVERAL DIFFERENT BEARINGS TO ANTI LEAKING OIL FILTER? ANY

Bearing wear is measured in thousandths and if somewhat worn they can become noisy till the crank heats and swells a bit. Naturally if the crank is very cold it will take longer to swell. Only way to check is by using an oil pressure gauge (mechanica ... 1999 Dodge Caravan

1993 Chevy Blazer 5.7L V-8, with 250,000 miles on it. The motor runs great. At a cold start up the oil pressure is near to 60. As the motor reaches 200 dregree, it begins to lose oil pressure. Soon the oil pressure will go to zero and the lifters will start ticking. Turn the engine off, let it cool. Starting again at a cool temperature, oil pressure is near 60 until it get warm. Would a new oil pump, or high volume oil pump give the motor some extended life??? Thanks Tom

Yes. Definitely. The oil pump is just weak. The veins in the oil pump get worn and to not keep the oil pressure up. Along with the oil gets thinner as the oil warms up. It makes it more difficult to pump. Another suggestion is Slick 50 for high milea ... Chevrolet Blazer

You may want to try switching to synthetic oil. It doesn't thicken up as much when it's cold so it flows more rapidly on a cold start. The thermal stability has added advantages when it's hot also. You can extend your oil change intervals so it do ... 2001 Dodge Durango

Sounds like worn main/ rod bearings. Too much clearance between bearings and crank shaft will make the oil pressure run low. If you have hydralic lifters, they too need good oil pressure to stay pumped up to keep the push rods against the rocker asse ... 2000 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab

2009 Ford Flex when started first thing on a cold morning it ticks/knocs really really loud, once it warms up the ticking goes away to a very light tick. The dealership ruled out an exhaust manifold leak. They are going to keep it over night to restart in the morning to hear the knocking/ticking noise when cold. They stated it could be a lifter problem or a crushed valve but mentioned there is probably nothing they can do if its a lifter problem. It is still under warranty and only started d

Alright, so my sister came over and when she was leaving she started her 2002 olds alero and i heard a ticking sound. It sounded like more than one lifter was ticking. Is this a sign that the oil pump is going out? I had her turn the car off after like four seconds. Checked the oil, it was full engine sludge shouldn't be a problem. She started it up a minute later and it didn't tick... What the HELL?

That tricking noise is common on the 3.4 gm engine's. It's called piston slap, you get it most of the time on first start or when you turn the car off and it just cooled enough for the pistons contract again.\015\012\015\012There is nothing we ... 2002 Oldsmobile Alero

Hi,\015\012\015\012It would seem you could have a problem with the valve train inside the engine.\015\012The best way to see if it is a valve train noise is to purchase a product called Morays Oil valve lubricant and just pour it straight into ... Pontiac Grand Prix

A loud tappety knocking sound is heard from the rocker cover area at a cold start up. The noise goes after about 5 minutes (or less) running time. Then sounds perfectly normal after that. Oil life is 50% and the correct grade of oil is being used. Car is kept in garage and not exposed to extreme cold temperatures. Oil and filter are changed on the regular maintenance schedule and there are no engine service lights showing while the problem noise is heard. This 2002 model has less than 60,000 mil
