Upper and lowere control arm replacement

\015 My front upper and lower ball joints are worn out. the upper ball joint only comes in upper control arm assembly and thought may also just buy the lower control arm assembly as well to avoid any pressing of ball joints (mainly b/c i don't own a press and thought also would save time). question is do i need a tool to compress the coil on the strut assembly to remove or re-install at any point in this process and is there a control arm bushing that will need to be pressed out or in during the process or is that already done in the assembly of the new one??\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 20-02-2017

Answers :

Where you buy your ball joints usually will rent (for free, just pay for it and then return it is what they do) a ball joint press. It's an easy job if you have any mechanical skills at all. The strut is what keeps the pressure on the spring, using the weight of the vehicle to compress the spring, just undo the strut, raise vehicle and the spring will relax and you can remove the upper control arm.
