Just bought a passat estate . when i first start off when the engine and box is cold know problems .but when the engine and gearbox are hot i find it hard to find reverse gear and a bit tight going thought the gears iv been told the gear oil is for life and should not need changing as its very costly there is a bit of vibration on the clutch pedal near the top when holding car . has any body got a clue. cheers antony


Dose the clutch pedal drive in gear 1" from the floor OR 1"" from the top when you let it out. if its drives when almost out and there is a vibration on the pedal then the clutch needs replacing and it has nothing to do with the gear box or oil ... 1998 Volkswagen Passat

When my 2006 pt cruiser gets hot it is hard to shift gears. When it is hot you barely let the clutch out and it starts to move, whereas when the engine is cold the clutch engages when clutch pedel is almost half way out.

89 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer w/AT4 auto tranny behind 4.0 engine. When cold, tranny works fine, but after 2 to 4 miles, won't engage in any gear manually or automatically, and won't engage in 4WD. After sitting overnight - will engage fine, then start slipping again... ATF appears OK, fluid levels OK, no smell or noise or problem w/tranny in past. Engine revs fine - starts OK, no apparant engine problems. sometimes if rev'd excessively (4k rpm) will get enough engagement to move a few feet.

My 2000 chevy impala, 3.4, is having power steering issues. The entire system has been changed. New gear box (reman OE), new lines, new PS pump w/reservoir (reman OE thru Auto Zone), pulley was transferred and a new serpentine belt. After installation steering was still very tight after warming up. So, I again replaced the gear box and pump. System was flushed then bled thoroughly. There are no leaks.
