Having problems with your 2006 Volkswagen Jetta ?

My 96 Jetta intermitently will not start unless I turn the alarm on and then back off. The last time I had to hit the panic button on my remote, turn it off, and then the car would start. This seems to be a kill switch problem. Any help would be appreciated. Can you reset the computer if you disconnect the battery?
