My maintenance required light changed from green (slowly) to red. i am a few hundred miles overdue for an oil change, which i'm doing today- how do I reset that light? I believe the oil change factor is the reason for the light change, because it's happened that way before when I brought it in to be changed. To save $, I've started doing the oil changes myself, but have no idea how to reset that thing.  Also (in case it isn't due to needing an oil change) what might that light be indicating?

I believe that there is a small slot, perhaps under the maintenance light, but somewhere on the speedometer, that allows you to put your ignition key into it and press in order to reset the light. ... 1994 Honda Accord

The check Maintenance Required light came on my 2006 Corolla about a year and a half ago. I checked the manual; it indicated that the oil should be changed. Even though I was nowhere close to a scheduled oil change, I went ahead, and still the light remained on. Now the check engine light has come on. The car only has 42,000 miles and I'm diligent about regular maintenance, checking fluids, etc. Is this most likely a problem with the warning lights, and what is the best way of fixing them.

The oil light is reset by the tech on each service. It will not go off by itself. As far as the check engine light goes you now have a code stored and you will need to get it before we can begin to diagnose. Only thing you can do is make sure the ga ... 2006 Toyota Corolla

Supposedly this happened due to neglect of maintenance with oil changes, etc. I didn't have oil changes made every 3,000. I've driven it for under 11,000 and the engine is non-lubricated according to my dealership. I had one oil change in the middle of it all, which from past experience has always been enough, but I do understand that it is perceived insufficient. Well, I want to do every thing I can on my own before I have to take it to a repair shop. Where do I start? What do I check first? Ca

My 2008 Smart is showing two wrenches indicating that maintenance is due. The car only has 16750 miles. I called the nearest dealer and was told that since I had not had it serviced in a year that the wrenches indicate service is due. I just had the oil changed at 15454 in Jan 2011. When I asked how to disable the icon I was told that only by bringing the car in for it's yearly check up and a $432 check. Is there any way to reset the yearly maintenance icon (i.e., 2 wrenches)?

I just had my routine oil change on my 2000 Chevrolet Impala LS which currently has 141,286 miles. I was advised that the power steering pump and rack & pinion assembly are slightly leaking oil and need replacing (OUCH!!!$$$), there is no indication of a whinning noise or other noise. I also just had the valve cover and upper intake gaskets replaced 1 week prior due to a constant oil leaking (recently the message center light indicated "oil level low") and smell of burning oil for a long period

If i was to guess i would agree with your mechanic, the leaky pump and rack are likely due to the oil leak that was present. You need to pressure wash the engine after spraying it with engine de-greaser and then after it has dried, set some clean cardbo ... Chevrolet Impala

My 2002 Kia Rio is down on power. On the highway it really bogs down and loses rpms and speed quickly when going up hills. It used to be very peppy and quick, no problems on hills whatsoever. The check engine code indicated a problem with the upstream O2 sensor, which I changed. I've also changed the air filter, fuel filter, and plugs in the last three weeks, as well as the scheduled oil change. No help. Any ideas?

I have a 2005 Buick Lesabre and just started having the oil pressure light come on and the pressure readings fluctuate wildly between 0 and 130. Car runs great and not making any weird noises. Oil level is fine and was planning on an oil change to be done this week as I am due. I have been reading other posting and sounds like a bad sensor to me..... I will have it looked at on Monday but was wondering what your thoughts were so I don't have a heart attack when I get the car checked. Thanks

A loud tappety knocking sound is heard from the rocker cover area at a cold start up. The noise goes after about 5 minutes (or less) running time. Then sounds perfectly normal after that. Oil life is 50% and the correct grade of oil is being used. Car is kept in garage and not exposed to extreme cold temperatures. Oil and filter are changed on the regular maintenance schedule and there are no engine service lights showing while the problem noise is heard. This 2002 model has less than 60,000 mil

The check engine service light is on. Recently purchased the car at a dealership who claims to have changed the oil. Is it possible the light simply came on for scheduled maintenance, despite having already been changed?

The best way to determine why the light came on is to have a mechanic or auto parts store use their scanner to check the error codes produced which caused the light to come on. They will be able to tell you what the codes mean. If it is a reminder to ... 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse

My 1999 Subaru Impreza sport wagon had a misfire in cylinder 2, after I changed all four spark plugs and fuel filter the problem got worse. Now the throttle lags and misfires only happen when the car accellerates from 0 to 20, then the problem disappears. When I was changing the spark plugs, there was also oil completely coating the outside of the rubber gaskets that plug over the spark plug, is this due to a cracked valve cover gasket?

Check gages light turns on and doesn't go off. Already had the oil changed, the oil pressure needle keeps marking 0. It had the same problem once but I changed the oil and kept working fine; then about 2 months after that oil change the oil pressure needle started to drop again, so I changed the oil once again, kept working ok, and since that oil change it only has been less than a month, and the oil pressure needle dropped to 0, and the check gages light is on

At this point I would strongly suggest that you have your mechanic hook a mechanical oil pressure guage to the engine and make absolutlely sure that the pressure is up to manufacturers standards. It may simply be a failing oil pressure sending unit, ... 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
