Having problems with your 2006 Chevrolet Impala ?

2006 Impala stuck in park

\015 The shifter is located between the seats. You need to push a button on the stick to shift it into a new gear. I went into the store, came out and suddenly the button can't be pressed down anymore so I am stuck in park. I read around that it has something to do with my shift solenoid, but i have no idea how to get to it or where exactly it is. If I had it taken to a garage how much would it cost to fix one? Can I fix it on my own? If so please be detailed in the explanation. \015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 18-09-2017

Answers :

You should be able to see a box type component on the backside of your brake pedal. When you step on the brake it sends a current to the computer telling it your on the brake and its ok to shift. Also known as shift lock control. You should also be equipped with an override on side of shifter, Maybe a small button to push or slide or even remove to reveal a small white button. Push it in and shift. Good luck.
Possibly just a fuse
