How to tell if a fuel pump is bad - 2005 Ford F-150

Answers :

Have a pressure test done on the fuel system. You can also disconnect the fuel supply lines from the fuel injectors and try starting the car. Have someone watch the lines while you try to start the car or vice versa. If the observer sees fuel flowing out in spurts from the lines, even a small bit, then your pump is working. This can be messy and hard to do if you're not mechanically inclined. I recommend the pressure test as it can tell you a lot more.
You wont have fuel pressure at the engine fuel line, and you won't hear it pumping in the tank.that is the power to it is good via fuse etc.
