Hi,

This is a common problem and a technical bulletin is already published. Let me provide you the details :-

This bulletin is being revised to update the correction information.\015\012 Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 05-08-67-002 (Section 08 - \015\012Body and Accessories).\015\012
\015\012
In the event that one of the following conditions occur, perform the\015\012 reinitialization procedure listed below prior to following SI for \015\012diagnosis.\015\012
\015\012
^ The sunroof module has driven the mechanism out of the rear of the assembly preventing the sunroof from closing.\015\012
\015\012
^ The unit will not close fully.\015\012
\015\012
^ The sunroof appears to be jammed or cycles forward and then stops early.\015\012
\015\012
\015\012
Sunroof Motor/Actuator Synchronization Procedure\015\012
\015\012
Synchronization will be necessary any time the sunroof motor is \015\012removed from the unit. The sunroof module is synchronized when the motor\015\012 controller learns the full vent position.\015\012
\015\012
To synchronize the sunroof:\015\012
\015\012
(Please read directions completely prior to beginning the procedure)\015\012
\015\012
1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.\015\012
\015\012
2. DO NOT OPERATE THE SUNROOF GLASS IN THE OPEN/TILT DOWN DIRECTION \015\012UNTIL THE INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE IS COMPLETE OR SERIOUS DAMAGE MAY \015\012OCCUR.\015\012
\015\012
3. Using the close/tilt up portion of the sunroof switch, operate \015\012the sunroof glass until it reaches the full vent position. Even if the \015\012sunroof stops early, proceed to step 4.\015\012
\015\012
4. Continue to hold the close/tilt up portion of the sunroof switch \015\012for at least 30 seconds or until you hear a slight click from the front \015\012of the sunroof mechanism.\015\012
\015\012
5. The slight clicking noise at the front of the sunroof confirms the initialization is complete.\015\012
\015\012
6. Verify that the system operates normally.\015\012
\015\012
Once the synchronization is complete, the position of the motor and \015\012mechanism is stored in the memory of the sunroof motor controller. The \015\012motor controller retains this memory even if power is disconnected to \015\012the motor.\015\012
\015\012
\015\012
If reinitialization does not correct the concern, perform the following steps:\015\012
\015\012
1. Reference SI and use the R&R procedure for removing the complete sunroof module assembly.\015\012
\015\012
2. Remove the motor from the unit and force the Pin Guides forward \015\012until the hard stop is reached. If water channel guides are out of \015\012track, there may resistance to moving pin guides forward. If water \015\012channel guides are out of track you will need to feed them through the \015\012rear of track. Make sure both sides are in complete forward position. In\015\012 the event track mechanism components are damaged, use Service Kit P/N \015\01288979948. \015\012
\015\012
3. Once the track mechanism is repaired, reattach the motor and follow the reinitialization procedure listed above.\015\012
\015\012
4. Check for proper operation. \015\012

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
Without looking at the sunroof it is very difficult to try to tell what is going on. But sometimes the sunroof get stuck open because the track has came loose from the sliding mechanism and is pressing the limit switch, making the sunroof think that it is closed.
