My temperature gauge reads low, even to the point where it tells me the engine is cooling instead of heating up to normal running temperature. Even once the needle has indicated a normal running temperature, i.e., pointing straight up, it will often fall off mark, as if the engine has cooled off a lot even though the car is still running.

Check to see if you have voltage at the wire that connects to gauge, then check for continuity on gauge terminals to see if it's ok. almost sounds like it might be the gauge ... 2000 Volkswagen Golf

Recently the radiator on my 2000 Toyota Avalon blew. The upper passenger side hose fitting just cracked and broke. Bought a new radiator installed it and it started over heating, never had this problem before (accept when idling in 110 degree traffic jam - live in Phoenix) Now even though we replaced the fan sensor (lower passenger side in the radiator) it still over heats. A mechanic friend of mine suggested it may be air pockets in the system and to raise the front end open the cap and run it

These are notorious air-pocketers..some crucial points: Must maintain a clean 50-50 coolant solution mix ratio, filled to minimum line cold...and to full line after warmed and thermostat has opened. If there is currently no visible signs of loss of ... Toyota Avalon

Our 2003 Passat had a check engine light, and it turned out the coolant level was low. We brought it in to the dealership to check for a leak, and they couldn't find a coolant leak anywhere, even though the coolant level was below min. They did, however, find that the water pump wasn't functioning properly and needed to be replaced, along with the thermostat. Before we drop the $750, I'm wondering if we should get a second opinion...any info would help.

The answer is a definite yes to the second opinion. I don't know how they mean when they say the pump is not functioning properly. It may be leaking out of the waterpump seal in which case you have an explanation for your water leak. That would be a ... 2003 Volkswagen Passat

The car runs fine when cold but after driving 10 or 15 miles it acts like its hot even though gauge says normal--hesitation on acceleration and rough idling we've also been having trouble with the radiator over pressurizing pushing coolant into reservoir. When the engine cools it doesn't pull the coolant back into the radiator.so the next time you start up the coolant level is low. IT has a new radiator, new water pump, new radiator cap new intake gasket and there's no water in the oil.

I have a 1995 4X4 S10 blazer and the problem I am having is that when I turn on the front defogger there is a heavy smell of radiator fluid coming in though the defogger vent and the front windshield fogs up really bad. I looked and checked the front floor boards to see if its wet from possibly the heater core leaking and is not and even checked the radiator to see if its low and its not either so I am in a lost here what can it be, any help would be greatly apprecaited.
