The car jerks when accelerating and shifting gears
Could be in need of a simple tune up, might have some bad gas. Could be a problem with a sensor, is your service engine light on? If it's not on try to have it tested for codes at autozone or O'Reily's. If nothing shows up and a tune up if haven't done lately. Or if it continues after this tank of gas is gone, try replacing the fuel filter if fuel pressure a little low. They have a fuel pressure test kit at autozone the let me use it there at the store without a deposit, but if you want to take it home I think it was $100-$150 for a deposit on it. If none of this seems to be a problem you might need to look at checking your coil packs, and ICM. Could also be some kind of a vacuum leak maybe so keep your eye out for any bad hoses or any hoses not hooked up.

I have a 99 VW Passat 1.8 and a few days ago and I left my light on over night. Got a jump but the guy reversed the lead on the jumper cables. Immediately afterwards I found that the car no longer goes out of 2nd gear (about 20 mph), however if I go down a hill the car shifts gear smoothly but when I level off I cannot accelerate but if I go down a steep hill it shifts everytime. I stumped. Please help. BTW...I went to autozone and got a scan it it says gear 3 and 4 are failing.

Hello, I have a 2002 Mini Cooper Hardtop and I am having some issues what I think may be my clutch. This problem just recently started. When shifting up is when the issue always occurs. I can shift from gear to gear and slowly apply gas into the new gear, however when I need to gain acceleration and I apply the gas a little heavier the car will over rev and then eventually grab the gear.
