Having problems with your 2004 Chrysler Pacifica ?

Car will sometimes only make a clicking sound, battery is good, can it be the starter solenoid not engaging the starter? Or is it a relay in the starter itself?

Answers :

Begin by cleaning the contact surfaces on the battery and cable ends, then check the connections at the other ends of the cables. Use a volt meter to verify voltage to any relays and at starter. It can be a poor connection or a mechanical failure of any of the things you mentioned...that's where testing becomes important. Also, have the battery load tested if it does not pass load test, change it.(load test will show battery available amperage and shorted cells)
Try connect a wire directly to solenoid, then touch the other end to the batt. positive, if the engines kick your starter is good if not, your carbon brushes inside the starter motor jam or need replacement.
