My security light just came on, will the car lock me out

Answers :

The car may hold the key in the ignition switch, and refuse to start if the Anti-Theft system is activated. This can happen if your key is damaged or sometimes if the battery is marginal. Instructions to remove the key are in the owners manual -- there's a small opening on the backside of the steering column where you can insert a small pointed object to release the key. Disconnect the battery, wait 15 minutes, then reconnect the battery. It's a good opporturnity to clean the battery terminals, and have the battery checked. So long story short, the car won't lock you out, but it may refuse to start until the AT problem is cleared.
