Having problems with your 2003 Subaru Baja ?

I replaced my belts on a 2003 Subaru Baja and they still squeak or squeal. I know the air condition belt needs adjustment because it squeals when i turn on the AC. However, the noises were there the first day or two. Then no noise a day or two. Now it's doing it agian! I wached a belt manufacture video and they said there is a difference between occasional or intermittent squeak or continuous squeal.

I have a 1993 s-10 blazer and the belt was squeaking so i changed the belt and it quit squeaking for a day or two. I actually started it without the belt and it didnt squeak any more so I thought it was the belt. could one of the pulleys be out of line and if so how do i find out and how do i correct the problem?

I dont think its a pulley, more like a weak belt tensioner, also make sure theres nothing leaking on the belt, oil or coolant leaks,if all is good try the tensioner.good luck. ... 1993 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer

My 06 corolla S has a squeaky serpentine belt. i bought the car in february with 75000 miles the engine had been "detailed" and shiny greasy stuff sprayed all over the engine compartment and belt squeaked from day one only on colder days 60 degrees or colder. Ive taken it off and it appears brand new not a single crack. ive taken a bar of soap to it while the motor is running and will quit it up for 10 miles or so. engine rpms dont affect it noise wise its still there. should i just replace i

Yes you should definitely replace it. (However bear in mind that the belt noise may return at some stage once the new belt gets a bit of use and wear). This is a very common problem with serpentine belts. When the belts have a bit of we ... Toyota Corolla

I am experiencing a squeaking noise from infront near the fan belt area. when i accelerate,it gets louder. I discovered that the power steering pump is leaking ,so i topped up the reservoir and it stopped for one day. the following day the squeaking noise is back .Could it be the tensioner ?

My 2003 Chrysler Sebring Convertible has an annoying squeaking sound to it and I would like to know how to stop the noise. It happens when it's running, and when accelerating the noise gets faster and louder. Spraying the main drive belt with silicone spray, and tightening the belt itself are two techniques that only seem to quiet the squeaking temporarily. The noise seems to come back within a day or so. Any ideas on how to completely fix this problem for good?

Idler Pulley I have a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant 16V I4. The idler pulley (or is it the crankshaft pulley?) that drives the two serpentine belts is loose. I didn't notice it for a while and just thought my belts needed to be replaced because the car would squeak on startup. Finally one day there was a grinding noise, when I checked it out the idler pulley was out towards the plastic encasing under the hood. So, I took both belts off and it went back to were its supposed to be, but it still will wobb

NEVER ENDING SQUEAK!!! Never ending loud squeking under the hood of my 2000 Blazer. Changed belts many times, sprayed with WD40, nothing makes it stop for more than a few minutes. Today, after driving, then stopping for about 3 minutes, it was quiet for the rest of the way home, less than 5 miles. Always squeaks on start up. Getting much louder the past 2 days. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

Its a pulley, not the belt. most likely the idler pulley. the bearings inside are going up not a hard piece to replace and the pulley is around twenty dollars at advanced auto parts ... 2000 Chevrolet Blazer

My car was sputtering the other day for the first time. I though it was the gas getting too low, so I went an put some gas in the tank and I have not had a problem since. After this incident, the motor started squeaking and it looks like the alternator is sqeaking. Once the car warns up, you can hardly hear the squeak. I looked at the motor and the belts are all ok and it looks pretty clean. Now today I got into the van and went down the street about two miles. When waiting for the light to cha

I have a 2000 mercury Cougar and I need help. One day while driving i heard a loud squeaking sound (like a belt) then the oil light came on, and the car died on me. Wouldn't start up until about 15 minutes later. The oil light was still on, and it was running really rough/noisy so I drove it to a gas station and checked the oil after the engine cooled down. The oil level was fine. So, I drove it to a friend's house nearby and got a ride home. Well, I took it to two different mechanic shops. One

The oil light is triggered by only one thing - the oil pressure in the engine is too low. Without oil the metal parts of the engine rub themselves directly, causing the sound you heard. Running the engine without oil is a sure way to completely destr ... Mercury Cougar

05 XL-7 I changed my old belts (with no squeaking) now one of the new belts squeaks loud, mostly in the morning when neighbors can hear and give dirty looks, like "get a new belt you incompetent grease monkey". And I think to myself "I bet I can make your wife squeak too". Anyhoot,I did what my neighbors were thinking and got a better goodyear belt. It squeaks too when it's cold. Tighter or loser it keeps squeaking. Could I have damaged the pulley? squeaks louder with air on.

Take a bar of soap at touch it on the side of belt when it is running. Becareful!!! or spray some WD40 on it. Should stop it. If not it must be something wrong with whatever it is running. If that is a serpentine belt spray it. Soap is good on v-belt ... 2002 Suzuki XL-7

My 1998 Ford Explorer Sport S-belt makes a continuous squeaking noise that gets worse with acceleration. The alternator and the belt are both working, the belt just squeaks horribly. I've put silicon on the belt and that stops the squeaking for a time, but it always comes back.

2006 Toyota Corolla LE. Loud squeaking coming from serpentine belt area after I start the engine cold. Changed the belt recently but still noice persist. Loud squeaking goes away after driving for 3-5 mins. I'm thinking it's the belt tensioner pulley or the belt tensioner itself. If it's the pulley, how do it, or is it possible to, replace just the pulley from the belt tensioner. Also how would I be able to get to it as the space is really limited. Thanks!

It is probably the tensioner pulley that's gone bad. It can be replaced separately, if you can purchase the pulley separately. As to how to go about changing it in such a small space, it's definitely possible, with the right type of tools. That's why ... 2006 Toyota Corolla

I have a 2006 Mustang GT with Kenne Bell Super Charger installed that only has 13,000 miles on it. I recently had to change the serpentine belt because approximately 8 inches on the edge of the belt was wearing away - not all the way through, but just a small top layer. I replaced it with another new belt provided by Kenne Bell and now I noticed a squeak from the alternator pulley - I confirmed this by removing the belt and turning the alternator pulley by hand. The squeak is not from the belt

I had it into the shop three or four times and they tried to get the squeak to stop. The accesory belt idler pulley was replaced and also the tensioner pulley bearing has been replaced. Belt Squeaking Does anyone have a serpentine belt routing diagram for an '03 Jetta TDI? I had similar squeaking issues a year ago and ended up replacing the alternator because the pulley had too much play in it. Now the same noise is back and I want to try to keep from dropping another $400 on a Bosch alternator. I can't really see another way to route the belt, but it feels really tight, I could barely get it on. Anyone have any ideas what else may be causing it?

Two days after I had a new starter installed in my 02 durango, the A/C quit and there was a loud "blower" noise coming from the engine compartment. I lifted the hood and the noise was from the serpentine belt area, but it was circulating fine. Next day, I tried to start it and smoke came from the engine compartment and the belt broke. What is the likely problem and can I replace the belt to limp it in for repair?
