I am trying to figure out whats wrong with a 1994 chev s-10 with a v6 vortec engine. It will idle but the rpm flucuates. When I try to increase the rpm it acts like it has a miss firing cyl. I pluued the plugs and found heavy carbon build up on some of the plugs so I changed them out along with dist. cap.It runs the same. I have a 92, 6- Cylinder Chrysler 300M. Error codes say misfire is #5 Cyl, and "E" Coil Pack(=#5 coil). Have changed #5 coil and all plugs. The catylitic converter on psgr side is getting red hot, I was told that means it's still working (for now). Car is running very rough at all times, and has now developed a loud knock which seems to be coming from cyl 5 using a piece of hose to listen. 3 mechanics have 3 diff guesses.
