I have a 2003 Expedition 5.4L Triton. Two days ago, with low gas (38 miles to empty), engine started running rough. Code read P0302, misfire cyl. 2. Since it had 113K miles, I figured its time to change the plugs. Did that, and then got 4 codes. 0300 (random misfire), 0302 (cyl 2), 0304(cyl 4), 0171(running lean, bank 1). Then I changed all the boots and springs, and checked that plugs were all secure. Same thing. Changed PCV valve, air filter, fuel filter, and put Lucas fuel injector tr

Most likely the coils. Easiest way to check is swap them with another cylinder, start it, pull the plug wire connecter and if it doesn't change the engine the coil is bad. If it is the injector, then you can check it with an ohm meter. Touch the lead ... 2003 Ford Expedition

I've changed al that 4 times in the last 30k miles. Except the spark plugs I've changed that 6 times. I've had the check engine light c

My 1999 Subaru Impreza sport wagon had a misfire in cylinder 2, after I changed all four spark plugs and fuel filter the problem got worse. Now the throttle lags and misfires only happen when the car accellerates from 0 to 20, then the problem disappears. When I was changing the spark plugs, there was also oil completely coating the outside of the rubber gaskets that plug over the spark plug, is this due to a cracked valve cover gasket?

I am trying to figure out whats wrong with a 1994 chev s-10 with a v6 vortec engine. It will idle but the rpm flucuates. When I try to increase the rpm it acts like it has a miss firing cyl. I pluued the plugs and found heavy carbon build up on some of the plugs so I changed them out along with dist. cap.It runs the same. I suspect a vac. leak so I changed the top intake gasket with no change in how it runs. Any suggestions as to whats next will be helpful. Thanks Jim in N.CA.

Based on the pictures one person posted his trany seems different. Where his drain plug is mine has two wires coming out of that plug his don't because he is using a rachet to take it off.

I have a 92, 6- Cylinder Chrysler 300M. Error codes say misfire is #5 Cyl, and "E" Coil Pack(=#5 coil). Have changed #5 coil and all plugs. The catylitic converter on psgr side is getting red hot, I was told that means it's still working (for now). Car is running very rough at all times, and has now developed a loud knock which seems to be coming from cyl 5 using a piece of hose to listen. 3 mechanics have 3 diff guesses. I am thinking of changing the injector next. It's at another shop rite now

Sounds like a lean misfire. The injector may be clogged or defective causing the cylinder to run very hot. A compressoin test is a good idea in case the exhaust valve is burning up. Hope it turns out OK, Don T ... 2008 Chrysler 300
