Having problems with your 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI ?
1.9 Litre blows black soot and wont go over 40 kilometers an hour
\015 My 2OO2 volkswagon golf 1.9 litre diesel wont go above 40 kilometers an hour. There is pure black smoke coming out my tailpipe. In the snow driving up the road behind the car in the snow there is a constant black streak of soot behind me its about 4 inches wide.never seen so much soot come from a car. The car wont rev above 1000 rpm. I changed the cataletic converter and fuel filter.with no change in performance. I just changed air filter still same performance. I put the car on a snapon computer and just says airbag flaged a code and # glow plug flagged a code so we reset the codes and still ran like **** now the glow plugs just start heat the oil to start the car then once started the glow plugs are disingaged so they are not in use. I dont think this can cause this problem Someone said disconnect the temp sensors because if they are faulty the engine could send a message to computer that engine is cold and put more fuel to injectors. The egr could do this but I took vacum hose off the egr valve and still the same. I took all 4 fuel lines to injectors off then turned the car over with them still connected to pump but not injectors and line 1 2 and 4 were just a light spray coming out the line but line 3 there was a steady flow. Is this normal? Any one got any ideas and can I bypass a egr valve to see if its the problem\015
You probably need a new mass air flow sensor. disconnect and drive it. I had the same problem and when I disconnected the sensor it ran good.
You need a new injector pump and injectors
