VW Polo Classic 1.6 Radiator fan not going on
\015 Good day, I just purchased a VW Polo 1.6 Classic 2002 Model and have the car for 3 months now. On Saturday whilst I was in traffic, I noticed the red light flash on the dashboard, 1 minute later there was steam coming out from the engine where the water bottle is situated. I then managed to get to a garage to fill up the water and coolant level, but noticed that the fan was not going on at all.\015\012\015\012I then took it to a mechanic who then suggested we replace the switch, but even that is not working.\015\012\015\012What else could be the problem?\015\012\015\012Any assistance will be highly appreciated.\015\012\015\012Regards\015
Try moving the fan blades by hand to see if the fan spins freely to see\015\012if the problem is frozen bearings in the fan motor. Replace the fan\015\012motor if it doesn't turn. If it spins freely disconnect the wires and\015\012hook the fan directly to the battery using a jumper. If it runs the\015\012problem is most likely the thermostatic switch. If it doesn't the fan\015\012motor is bad.
I have had the same problem ,for me , it was the thermostat housing ,the plastic location on the stat housing had broken ,if the stat doesnt work the water cant circulate around the rad and the fan switch ,located on the rad doesnt get a true reading of the engine temp, cheers

Overheating Polo VW Polo Classic 1.6 2001 model sedan. Car overheating. Fan comes on but only when very hot. Have flushed and refilled radiator, etc but still overheating quickly although fan does come on. Is this the thermostat and where do I replace?
This sounds like a thermostat fault, but also could be the sensor switch to the radiator but is more likely the thermostat, it should be located at the front top of engine, follow the top water hose to the engine and you will find the thermostat hous ... 2001 Volkswagen Golf

2003 Chevy S10 Head Gasket I own a 2003 Chevy S10. Problems started when my truck started overheating. I found out that the fan clutch stopped working. Also, I know that I've had a leaky radiator. So, I got my radiator replaced and my fan clutch repaired/replaced. Now, my engine temp is still going up and my oil pressure is going down. Coolant is disappearing and I can't find a leak. So I got it looked at and I found out that I have a blown head gasket. My oil is milky. So I understand th

Hi: I read your answer to the problem with the 1999 Mercury Mistique temperature gauge. I'm having a similar problem. My temperature gauge is broken in the cold position. And, as far as I can tell, the radiator fans never go on. (The radiator fans are triggered from the same temp sensor as the temp gauge uses.) When I disconnect the sensor when the engine is running, the radiator fans turn on (suggesting hot reading) but the temp gauge is still stuck in the cold position. I've repla

I just had the radiator fan relay replaced today because the fan would not shut off when I turned engine off. I had to pull fuse to stop fan.I Stopped for gas on way home from shop. When I restarted car, the check engine light was on? I checked under the hood when I got home in garage and It appears that the radiator fan is not working? Any idea what is going on? The new relay failed? The repair shop was closed shortly after I pick up vehicle so I can't report the problem until morning.
It sounds as if there might be a burned fuse. instead of replacing the rad fan relay i suppose they should have looked further. I'd be willing to bet they would find a faulty fan which in turn is taking out ur fuse or relay. With a faulty fan, it ... 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The cooling fan does not go on and the temperature gauge does not show signs of overheating but it over heats and comes out of the little over flow hose. The fan does come on with the ac running.
