99 jeep grand cherokee 4.7 v8 oil pressure drops from 40 at idle to 0 when given rpms. Will come right back to 40 when you let idle again. I have removed pan and checked screen. It was clean. Original sending unit was leaking so I replaced. Still thew same. I hooked up aftermarket gauge and pressure never goes below 40 no matter what. Hook back up sender and it acts up again. Don't think 2 senders would be bad. Could it be oil in plug in missing up current?

From what you just said, it sounds like the problem may be the dash gauge itself. I have only seen one oil pump act like that (mine) .... in that case the pump drive gear was turning on the shaft and slowing down as rpm increased but that is so rare ... Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with 80,000 miles on it. In the last two years since we've bought it, we've replaced the fuel pump 6 times -- all by the same mechanic! EVERY TIME the Jeep died, we brought it back to him, he replaced the fuel pump, and it ran great again (sometimes for only 45 minutes, sometimes for 2-3 months). Well, the Jeep won't start again and ANOTHER mechanic is telling me it's the fuel pump AN

Does 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 have hydraulic lifters? I posted a question a few days ago regarding engine loud ticking which sounds like lifter noise. It doesn't have that deep sounding knock. I went to autozone, and asked one of their staff if trying some kind of motor flushing product (trans fluid, marvel mystery oil, cds product) He told me that the Jeep's V8 doesn't have hydraulic lifters. Anyone have any thoughts on this issue. Thanks for the quick responses to my other question. Eli
