Having problems with your 2002 Dodge Neon ?
01 Intrepid 2.7 overheating
\015 I have replaced the thermostat and water pump(timing chain while there, 137000 miles), flushed the system completly, ran a compression test (150psi on all cylinders consistently), Runs great but has no heat inside car and overheats therefore bubbling through the reservoir. I have tried everything I know to "bleed" the air from the system but no help. It does not smoke or drip from the exhaust nor does it miss out at all. What am I missing? Thanks\015
The first thing you need to do is pressure check the cooling system. then you need to start vehichle with pressure tester on to see if it builds pressure, in this case you a blown head gasket ...and dumb question but are you sure you put the thermostat in the right direction??? i have seen the housing where the thermostat is located cracked before so also check that...hope that helps
Although you have flushed the system what it sounds like is that it may have a blocked heater matrix, when you run it up can you feel the temperature of the pipes going into and coming out of bulkhead to matrix also check temperature of all pipes in engine bay as definitely sounds like a blockage somewhere same with main radiator does it feel the same temperature all over? If this throws no light then suggest to get a cylinder head gasket test kit which is widely available and all you do is insert it into coolant expansion tank and see if changes colour if exhaust gases are present.
